Synopsis



El Chapo explores the life story of drug kingpin Joaquín El Chapo Guzmán, one of the world’s most notorious criminals, over a span of three decades from 1985 when he was a low-level member of the Guadalajara Cartel, his rise through the Sinaloa ranks to become a cartel kingpin, and his ultimate downfall. He was a cunning, ruthless criminal whose submarines, airplanes and vast network of tunnels helped supply and fuel the vast majority of the American cocaine industry. El Chapo tells not just the story of a cartel, but some of the governmental and institutional corruption that allows it to thrive.
