Some young people talk in the sparse shade of a baobab tree. two women pound cassava. the camera that enters the privacy of the concessions of this small African village, lost somewhere in the heart of the loop of the Niger River. Young girls in bloom, adorned with shimmering coloured boubous, gently slide on the beaten earth floor, carrying huge bundles of wood at the top of their heads. They smile, naughty, with a generous smile that lights up their faces. The stage is set. The story, on the other hand, takes place at the end of the 19th century. It is rumoured that Wend-Kuuni is responsible for all the ills of the village. In other words, since he was taken in by Pughneere's family, his adopted sister, he has been a jinx. Orphaned by father and mother, he seems to pay little attention to all this gossip: yet, he suffers from this inner suffering that weaves the web of unhappiness. One day, his sister falls seriously ill. Faced with the healer's powerlessness, Wend-Kuuni leaves his village in search of the only witch capable of delivering her from all her ills.
