In this romantic police comedy, after millions are robbed from a luxury hotel in Rio de Janeiro by its own employees, the lives of all people involved are turned upside down. Pedrinho (Marcos Caruso), owner of the Carioca Palace Hotel, is in fact a bankrupt playboy. Completely broke, he decides to sell his only asset left to Eric (Mateus Solano), an ambitious and successful businessman. Without a clue about the deal, Luiza (Camila Queiroz), Pedrinho‘s innocent granddaughter and heiress, falls in love at first sight with the man who will buy the hotel. The problem is that she had always dreamt of managing her grandfather‘s hotel, in order to return to it all the glamour the place had in the past. To leave his position as the head of the hotel in great style, Pedrinho gives a lavish party at the Carioca Palace to celebrate Luiza‘s 25th birthday. An unexpected event, however, staggers all the guests: the money paid for the hotel is mysteriously stolen. And Luiza finally finds out that Eric is the new owner. Meanwhile, the robbers of the US$ 40 million can‘t and shouldn‘t spend the money in order to avoid suspicion. Behind the robbery are in fact four employees of the hotel itself who never intended on becoming criminals, but are facing many difficulties in life. That is why a daring plan is devised by: the hotel maid Sandra Helena (Nanda Costa) and the receptionist Agnaldo (João Baldasserini), the waiter Júlio (Thiago Martins) and the concierge Malagueta (Marcelo Serrado), deviser of the robbery and responsible for slyly recruiting his coworkers. In the search for the criminals, the rational and incorruptible police detective Antônia (Vanessa Giácomo) takes over the case. She is all for justice and does her best to solve the mystery but ends up falling in love with Júlio, the only regretful robber. Afraid of telling Antônia the truth, Júlio embarks on this romance that can cost them both dearly. In «The Big Catch», while romances are put to the test, family bonds are strengthened, friendships are weakened and personal dilemmas come to light, the robbers make clear they are capable of anything for money and especially not to get caught.
